A FUN-FILLED FAMILY EVENT

Join us in our FIRST annual ASL for All 5K Run/Walk fundraiser to foster Olathe as a "Shared Signing Community"! Shared signing communities are localities where both Deaf and non-Deaf community members use a shared visual language to communicate with one another. Non-Signers are welcomed!

This FIRST annual ASL for ALL 5K Run/Walk fundraiser will take place on the Indian Creek Trail leading from and returning to Frontier Park. Following the 5K race, there will be two Fun-Runs for children at the park in conjunction with an ASL Festival area offering booths. ASL Performances will be provided at conclusion of Awards Ceremony. Coffee, water and refreshments will be available for free to registered participants.
All proceeds from this event will be split between the Kansas School for the Deaf Endowment Association (KSDEA) and the Museum of Deaf History, Arts & Culture (MDHAC) in support of their missions in fostering shared signing communities.

Thank you very much to all who came, ran, walked, volunteered, sponsored and/ or in any way provided support to our first annual ASL-For-ALL Run & Walk 5K event! The morning of September 30th could not have been a more perfect time for being outside, when it wasn't too cold or too hot! So many people came and the committee truly enjoyed the opportunity to see all our hard work get "paid-off" by watching you sign, walk/ run, and/or enjoy the ASL Performances show, all of which, we hope will begin the building blocks of a true Shared Signing Community here in Olathe, Kansas.
By the end of our event, a total of $15,000 was raised! The proceeds, after expenses, will be split between Kansas School of the Deaf Endowment Association and the Museum of Deaf History, Arts & Culture (MDHAC) and be put to use towards our respective missions (more information can be found through link below).
Since this was our first event, we learned from a few hiccups especially with the same-day check-in process, and, also, appreciated the feedback that was received. We plan to make next year even better! Please keep your eyes peeled for the dates of the 2nd annual event next Fall! Meanwhile, please do check your results or enjoy the photos below (more will be added in the next few days and feel free to add yours)!
Sincerely,
Chriz Dally (MDHAC) & Molly Rothwell (KSD)
Co-Chairs of ASL-For-ALL Run & Walk 5K Committee.
